We highly recommend staying at Solitude - there are lots of condos available for rent, it is right by the races, with great food available.

Alternately, there are hotels at the base of the canyon, about 15 miles away from the race venue.

Beware of Google Maps. Heber and Midway appear close, but the roads between them and Solitude are not open in the winter.
